“3-year PhD fellowship at the Stefan Meyer Institute for Subatomic Physics in Vienna, Austria.”

Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD position starting at July 1st 2015 at the Stefan Meyer Institute for Subatomic Physics (www.oeaw.ac.at/smi) in Vienna. Successful applicants will be part of the newly established New Frontier Group 'Studying thequark-gluon plasma via low-mass dielectrons’. The group aims to measure low-mass dielectrons with the ALICE detector in heavy- ion collisions at the LHC.

The goal of this PhD thesis would be to develop a dielectron analysis based on existing tools in the ALICE analysis framework and analyze data from LHC Run 2, starting in mid 2015. The work can in the first place be performed at the Stefan Meyer Institute for Subatomic Physics in Vienna. Several months at CERN are envisioned for data-taking periods and analysis.

Applications including a CV, a copy of the master/diploma certificate, copies of the university scores, and a brief summary of previous research activities, as well as letters of reference should be sent to Dr. Michael Weber, m.weber@cern.ch until latest 15th of May, 2015.
