The Institute for Subatomic Physics at Utrecht University has an opening for one PhD position in Experimental High-Energy Heavy-Ion Physics (ALICE experiment) funded by a personal grant of the Dutch Science Fundation (NWO).

The PhD student will join the ALICE collaboration and he/she will work on the LHC run II data analysis. The student is expected to study of D meson production in elementary pp and Pb- Pb collisions using run-2 data of the CERN-LHC. The student will have the possibility to be involved in the preparation of the B meson analyses for the LHC run III and in the ALICE ITS upgrade.

The student will be stationed at Utrecht University. In addition he\she is expected to work in close contact with the group at National Institute for Subatomic Physics (Nikhef) in Amsterdam. Long stays at CERN are foreseen.

The PhD programme in the Netherlands takes up to four years. The Collective Employment Agreement (CAO) of the Dutch Universities forms an integral part of the contract of employment.
