POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY
Experimental High Energy Physics

The experimental particle physics group at Northwestern University has immediate availability for a postdoctoral research associate. The group led by Profs. Hahn, Schmitt, and Velasco, plays a leading role in the CMS experiment at the LHC. We are pursuing an exciting physics program at the new, 13 TeV energy regime to be opened up by the LHC, which recently discovered a Higgs boson and offers the continual possibility of major new discoveries. Our group has leading roles in searches for new physics, Higgs, Top and SM physics. We are major contributors to the HL-LHC upgrade of CMS.

We offer challenging opportunities associated with our responsibilities in CMS and exciting possibilities in the analysis of the discovery-quality CMS data of the high-energy LHC run of 2015-2017. The successful applicant is expected to take a leading role in CMS physics analysis and/or spearhead the R&D for the CMS upgrade.  A Ph.D. in experimental particle physics and significant experience with data analysis, as well as hardware experience are preferred.

Interested candidates should submit application materials (curriculum vita and arrange to have three letters of recommendation)  via email to  hep-exp2015@lotus.phys.northwestern.edu. For full consideration, applications should be submitted by March 1, 2016, but the position will remain open until filled. For inquiries, please contact Mayda.Velasco@cern.ch.
