Assistant/Computer Scientist- Applied Machine Learning

 The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) is looking for talented candidates who can join our growing Data Science Group. As a member of the team, the candidate will be embedded with leading research teams coming from labs and universities from all over the world to use Argonne’s world class computing resources to push the boundaries of science and technology. The Data Science Group is composed of researchers from many fields; Cosmology, Material Engineering, Quantum Chemistry, Physics, Computer science, among others. Using our talents in Statistical Analysis, Workflow Management, Machine Learning, Scalable Parallel Algorithms, Computer architecture and Data Manipulation, we work to solve challenging science problems on Argonne’s supercomputers consisting of millions of cores. The candidate will get to work on the Aurora Supercomputing system expected to be nation's first exascale system and will have the unique opportunity to push the state-of-the-art for using of data science and machine-learning methods in large-scale HPC.
 
    The group is looking to expand its Machine Learning expertise, which is the focus of this position. Ideal candidates will have demonstrable experience in Machine Learning, having employed tools such as Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, etc., and parallel computing using MPI, OpenMP, and/or CUDA. We will also consider candidates with experience using statistical methods for data analysis within a science domain, in lieu of machine learning experience. Candidates must have advanced skills in an object-oriented programming language, with preference given to Python and C++. Candidates are expected to work in close collaboration with members of the Data Science Group and scientists from universities and laboratories and have strong communication skills.
