NEWS FROM POINT 2
- 2022 Call for Run Managers candidate for ALICE data taking operations: The Run Manager is a key figure in running the day-by-day operations, supervising the SL and the shifters, running the RC Daily Meeting to collect relevant information and to support Run Coordination in defining new RUN3 data taking and operation procedures. Apply for Run Manager role using the Google Sheet here.
- ALICE is in the global commissioning phase and preparing for the pilot beam tests. Details are in the Technical Board presentations.
Main highlights of this week:

- Cosmic data taking with ITS+TPC+TRD+TOF+MFT+MCH+MID with online processing continued till the start of machine commissioning.
- ALICE is in Super Safe during machine commissioning and Regular technical runs with available detectors.
- Validation of online processing, QC, and Event Display continues.
- Cosmic data taking with ITS+TPC+TRD+TOF+MFT+MCH+MID with online processing continued till the start of machine commissioning.
- LS2 Schedule:
- Global commissioning until 12 November 2021
- There will be a AUG test at Point 2 on 24 November All equipments will be powered off and Point 2 will be inaccessible.
- 11 weeks YETS from 15 November 2021 to 31 January 2022
- Standard interventions on primary infrastructure (cooling, electricity)
- Last chance to work on the detectors (TOF DCDC, MFT VTRx, etc)
- Restart global commissioning with magnets on 1 February 2022

OUTREACH NEWS
- All group guided tours onsite are cancelled until the end of 2021 at least.
- In addition, CERN Visits Service will not accept any guided tour request before April 2022.
- Virtual, VIP and press visits are taking place regularly.
- ALICE underground visits are blocked due to the LHC Pilot beam, and will restart in November.
These are open to people having a valid CERN access card, with a limited number of visitors, and in respect of special COVID rules. The guidelines are documented here.
