NEWS FROM POINT 2
- ALICE central operations:
- Start of 13.6 TeV data taking 21 April 2023: first machine ramp steps with 3b, 12b, 75b
- 0B field data taking planned with the 75b fill
- TPC, MFT and PHOS acceptance fully recovered with access of 19 April
- New Run Manager: Robin Caron. Robin is a post-doc at Lyon IPN, France since November 2021 and he is a Junior member of the ALICE Collaboration. During his PhD he worked on Azimuthal anisotropie of quarkonium in ultrarelativistic Heavy Ion collisions with ALICE at the LHC. He carried out a service task on the MFT alignement. He is now in charge of the MFT software coordination and working on the preparation of first RUN 3 data analysis with MFT. In Run 3, Robin is On-call for all detectors involved in muon measurements: MCH, MID and MFT. He is also qualified for all central systems shifts with an important experience in central shifts.
During his mandate, Robin will coordinate the first beam at top energy and initiate the ramp-up phase of the experiments. Ramp-up will be interleaved by scrubbing, scraping at end of fill and residual machine commissioning. During this time Robin will carry out several SYNTHETIC running campaigns to benchmark the performance of processing and prepare the experiment for pp and HI data taking. On Wednesday 19/04 he coordinated a day of access during which we aim at intervention regarding TPC, EMC, and PHOS.
- LHC Status:
- Loss Maps completed
- Train tests
- First Stable Beam at 13.6 TeV expected TODAY (21 April) with 3b/12b
