The Cal Poly physics department has initiated a search for one or more new tenure-track faculty hires.  We recently posted our job listing with Physics Today (online since Oct 17, print edition Nov-Dec 2013).  We are looking for enthusiastic teacher-scholars who want to educate undergraduates in a "learn-by-doing" approach, including meaningful research experiences with faculty.

It is possible to obtain external funding from e.g. NSF/DOE to develop a successful research program with undergraduates.  If you or someone you know is looking for a career position such as this, please encourage them to apply.  We are not doing a targeted search in any specific sub-field, but rather we are looking for the best candidates to fit our institutional mission.

I am part of a growing consortium of particle and nuclear physics faculty across the California State University (CSU) system who are trying to build CSU support for particle and nuclear physics.  We already have researchers in ALICE (Cal Poly), ATLAS (CSU Fresno), CLAS (CSU DH), and beam physics (Cal Poly).  We would love to have more people working in the field to help us gain support for our activities.

The Physics Today online ad can be found at http://jobs.physicstoday.org/jobs#/detail/5761554/

The Cal Poly jobs site is https://www.calpolyjobs.org.  Look for requisition #103025

If you have any questions about the department or the position, feel free to contact me.
