Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the LHCb Experiment
CERN, Geneva, Switzerland and Denys Wilkinson Building, Keble Road, Oxford
Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 p.a.
The Sub-department of Particle Physics at the University of Oxford is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral research assistant to work on the LHCb experiment.

The postholder will join the Oxford LHCb group and play a leading role in the preparation and execution of Central Exclusive Production (CEP) and other diffractive physics measurements exploiting data from LHC run 2. These analyses probe an important sector of QCD and also provide an ideal laboratory for spectroscopy studies, both of conventional and exotic states. The postholder will devise a trigger strategy for the coming run and will also commission and exploit first data from a new system of forward scintillator detectors, deployed in the LHC tunnel to distinguish between various classes of pp interaction. He/She will benefit from the unique capabilities of the LHCb experiment in this rich and exciting field.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in experimental physics.

This post is full-time, fixed-term for 3 years and will be based at CERN, Geneva.

Please read the "Person Specification and Job Description" before preparing your application.
