The Particle Physics group at the University of Manchester has a vacancy for a Research Associate working on the LHCb experiment at the LHC at CERN. The work is funded through a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship to develop Real Time Analysis (RTA) techniques for the Square Kilometre Array and the Large Hadron Collider Beauty experiment.
You will be expected to work primarily on real time analysis and physics analyses at the LHCb experiment. The Manchester LHCb group currently has particularly strong activities in CP violation and mixing studies in the charm sector as well as in the study of rare decays. Your work will extend these activities to CP violation in the beauty sector, but we are also open to the introduction of new analysis activities.
The position requires a PhD or equivalent in particle physics. You will have experience in particle physics data analysis and software development for reconstruction, triggering or alignment and calibration activities. The position will be initially for a period of two years, with a possibility to be based at CERN for an extended period.
