he University of Alabama’s MoEDAL group is looking for an active, self-motivated researcher with a background in experimental particle physics. The group is playing a leading role in the searches for magnetic monopoles in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC and participates in searches for other exotics in p-p collisions. The group is also involved in the installation and commissioning of the MoEDAL’s Apparatus for Penetrating Particles (MAPP) that will search for long-lived and milli-charged particles during the LHC Run-3. The group members are involved in the simulations, analysis, and installation activities, as well as serving in leadership roles in the MoEDAL/MAPP collaboration. The successful candidate will be expected to be stationed at CERN and take charge of several of the above activities. Experience with Geant4 Monte Carlo simulations and data analysis using ROOT and Python is required. Familiarity with advanced ML methods (generative models in particular) would be a plus but not required.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. in Physics or a related field at the start of appointment. The appointment is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal for up to three years.
