We are seeking to appoint an experienced individual to work on a major STFC-funded Silicon Tracking Detector project in the Liverpool Semiconductor Detector Centre and STFC Daresbury Laboratory Engineering Technology Centre: the upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System. The Inner Tracking System upgrade is a new tracking and vertexing detector comprising seven layers of Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS). The production phase for this project takes place over the next two years. You will take responsibility for the provision of major technical input to ensure the production yield and quality of modules and staves during the construction phase and will take a leading role in the systems integration and pre-commissioning phase of the project at CERN. You will have a PhD in a discipline relevant to detector research with experience in the construction of large silicon detectors for high-energy physics and an excellent track-record of project management and leadership. You will work closely with collaborators from UK and overseas institutions. The post is available until 31 December 2019 (with potential longer-term prospects).
