Post-doctoral Fellowships at Science and Technology Facilities Council Laboratories in the UK The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), one of Europe’s largest research organisations, is seeking high-calibre post-doctoral scientists for its Rutherford International Fellowship Programme (RIFP).

RIFP is a major new post-doctoral fellowship scheme part-funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020, through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND scheme.
The Programme is designed to attract the highest-quality researchers who will be able to take advantage of the world-class facilities and departments within STFC. These include the ISIS neutron and muon source, the Diamond Light Source (DLS) and the Central Laser Facility (CLF); the Particle Physics, RAL Space, Scientific Computing, Accelerator and Technology Departments, as well as the UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UKATC). Fellows can be based at any of STFC’s research sites: the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, the Daresbury Laboratory, the UK Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh or the Chilbolton Observatory.

Fellowships will normally be for two years duration. Fellows will benefit from excellent research opportunities to pursue their chosen science project, as well as training and development possibilities and the wide range of benefits available to STFC employees. Applicants must hold a PhD or have equivalent research experience, and should not have worked in the UK for more than 12 months in the past three years.
Full details of the Fellowship Programme, including how to apply, eligibility requirements and the range of possible research areas, can be found on the STFC website at http://www.stfc.ac.uk/funding/fellowships/rutherford-international-fellowship-programme/.

Around 12 Fellowships are available.
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2015, and successful candidates would be expected to take up their Fellowship positions from Spring 2016.
