The Run Coordination (RC) is in charge of the global commissioning of the ALICE detectors and systems and their operation during the physics runs.
The RC coordinates with the Physics Board, the Trigger Coordinator, the Technical Board and the Management Board to optimize the experimental configuration and data-taking strategies in order to address and realise the physics goals of the Collaboration.
Each year, shift schedules are determined by the RC, discussed in the Management Board (MB) and allocated to the Member Institutes based on the M&O-A distribution.
The Run Coordinator and the Deputy Run Coordinator are nominated by the Spokesperson, endorsed by the MB and the Collaboration Board.

List of Sub System Run Coordinators
|
RC is assisted in the daily coordination work by a Run Manager (RM) for the duration of a 2 weeks period. Each subsystem nominates a System Run Coordinator (SRC), who is responsible for the detailed organisation of the real-time operation of the subsystem and provides the interface between the RC and the project. The shift crew has the task of operating the experiment for an 8-hour shift period. It is headed by a Shift Leader (SL) who is in charge of implementing the shift plan defined in the run coordination meetings and directing the shift operations.
