Postdoctoral fellowships - The Muon Radiography team of the center for Cosmology, Particle Physics and Phenomenology (CP3) of the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium

The Muon Radiography team of the center for Cosmology, Particle Physics and Phenomenology (CP3) of the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, led by Andrea Giammanco and Eduardo Cortina, invites expressions of interest by excellent and motivated candidates who are interested in joining our team by applying to postdoctoral fellowships delivered at university, national and European level.

1) "FSR Post-Doc" fellowships at UCLouvain: 2-year contracts funded by the university.

Eligibility: PhD obtained since less than 5 years. Mobility condition: the candidate must not have resided/worked/studied in Belgium for more than 24 months in the last 3 years.

Deadline on 01/10/2021, interviews in February 2022, results in March 2022. Start of contract: at earliest in March 2022.

2) FNRS Chargé de Recherche (FNRS-CR): 3-year contracts funded by FNRS, the main funding agency for French-speaking universities in Belgium.

Eligibility: PhD obtained since less than 6 years.

The call will open in December 2021, with deadline at the end of January 2022; there are no interviews, and the results will be known in June 2022. Start of contract: at earliest in October 2022.

3) Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral fellowships (MSCA-PF): 2-years contracts funded by the European Commission.

Eligibility: PhD obtained since less than 8 years. Mobility condition: the candidate must not have resided/worked/studied in Belgium for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.

Deadline: 12/10/2021; there are no interviews; results known in February 2022. Start of contract: at earliest in April 2022.

 

We are willing to support promising candidates to these three competitions, with individual research projects related to muon radiography: development of a portable muon detector based on RPC; data analysis of the MURAVES experiment (MUon RAdiography of VESuvius); development of a generic simulation and optimization framework for a variety of muon radiography use cases.
