Nikhef invites applications for a postdoc position in instrumentation for future particle detectors, primarily on silicon pixel detectors with a high temporal resolution. The successful candidate will work on the development of state-of-the art pixel sensors and its corresponding readout ASICs. The future LHC upgrades require a time resolution of several tens of picoseconds in a harsh radiation environment.  Current research lines in the Detector R&D group focus on monolithic active pixel sensors and hybrid detector technologies including 3D and low gain avalanche detectors (LGAD). The work will be carried out together with staff researchers, PhD and master students, and in collaboration with external groups such as AIDAinnova, RD50, and the Medipix consortium. Moreover, the postdoc is expected to contribute to the development and improvement of the laboratory infrastructure such as beam telescopes and laser setups, and actively participate in test beam campaigns abroad. For this position the candidate will also closely interact with the ASIC designers and engineers from the electronics department, who are involved in the realisation of electronics for fast time measurements.
