The research is being conducted as a part of our participation in the STAR experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and the ALICE experiment at CERN. In addition, the group is currently expanding its focus on the new ePIC experiment, which is being prepared for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) at BNL.

Job description:

  • Analysis of experimental data from the STAR experiment, focusing on properties of hard probes (jets, heavy quarks or quarkonia)
  • Participation in the data collection of the STAR experiment at BNL
  • Preparation of the ePIC experiment at the EIC (simulations, software preparation, or collaboration on the development of luminosity measurements and instrumentation for electron tagging with the ePIC experiment team at the Czech Technical University in Prague)
  • Preparation of scientific publications and presentations at international conferences
  • Preparation of grant applications

Requirements:

  • Completed PhD study in particle or nuclear physics (not older than five years)
  • Knowledge of C++, Python, ROOT, or machine learning methods
  • Experience in detector development (scintillation detectors and SiPM technology, readout and control electronics) is welcome
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Ability to work in an international team

We offer:
