JUNIOR'S CORNER
Message from Junior representatives (Carolina, Florian, Luca):
- ALICE Juniors are invited to attend and register for the "LHC Soft Skills Workshop: On Networking, Proactivity and Enlarging our Circles of Influence" on 17 January 2024. The event consists of an interesting panel discussion with senior members of all four LHC experiments, followed by a networking event. In-person and remote participation possible!
- CERN Newcomers Tours: The LHC Early Career Scientists Fora (ECSF) are pleased to offer our LHC ECSF CERN Newcomers Tours.
- ALICE Theses website (NEW)
- Guidelines for ALICE Thesis Video: we like to propose a ~3 min video summarizing the key results of PhD thesis. Guidelines are in the Juniors link.
OUTREACH NEWS
ALICE virtual visits: Virtual Visits to the cavern and ARC possible during upcoming YETS. Virtual visits are highly beneficial for remote audiences, standalone or in combination with local events. To book a virtual visit, contact the ALICE outreach team at the e-mail address: alice-outreach-virtual-visits
DIVERSITY
- "WIT Impostor Syndrome Workshop", 9 February 2024: Ever felt like you weren't deserving of your achievements? Thought it was all just luck? You're not alone! Impostor Syndrome is that sneaky voice in your head making you doubt your incredible skills, talents, and accomplishments. It's the shadow that makes you question if you're a "fraud", even when the spotlight clearly shines on your successes. WIT (Women in Technology), CERN has organized a workshop where we will introduce impostor syndrome, including what it is and how it usually manifests. After an introductory talk, participants will split in small groups to do hands-on exercises.
- "Work well feel well: No, no… it’s OK… Developing an awareness of health indicators": While a healthy amount of stress can provide motivation and drive, when work commitments are high, stress can negatively impact our health. It's essential to put measures in place to protect our health from the harmful effects of chronic stress.
