- LHC and P2 news:
- LHC:
During the past week, the LHC has completed the first physics production period and entered the second Machine Development block of the year (MD2). The currently delivered luminosity is well in line with the predictions for this year, and the machine is regularly providing stable beams for more than 50% of the time.
The MD2 will be followed by the first Technical Stop (TS1) from Monday 10 June to Friday 14 June (with a possible extension to Saturday 15 June). Access to the experimental caverns will be possible during the whole duration of TS1. - P2 operations:
ALICE has continued collecting proton-proton physics data at 500 kHz interaction rate until the start of MD2, reaching more than 14 pb-1 of delivered luminosity for physics production. During the MD and the Technical Stop, we will perform a number of central system tests to validate recent improvements in data processing and quality control.
After the Technical Stop, we will resume physics data taking with positive magnets polarity. The first days will be devoted to collecting data at interaction rates from a few kHz up to 4 MHz, to complete the calibration of the ALICE TPC.
