Job description:
The high energy nuclear physics experimental group at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) invites talented and highly qualified candidates to apply for the postdoc position(s) at UCAS.
About Us:
Introduction of School of Nuclear Science and Technology, UCAS can be found at: https://nuclear.ucas.ac.cn/index.php/zh-cn/. The high energy nuclear physics group at UCAS conducts theoretical and experimental research on strongly coupled quark matter and the phase structure of QCD. The experimental group is currently involved in the RHIC–STAR, LHC–ALICE, NICA–NPD, and HIAF (Huizhou, China) experiments. Our research interests include (but not limited to) using heavy flavour, dilepton and strangeness to probe QCD phase structures as well as properties of hot and dense nuclear matter (e.g. their production and correlations). Currently, the experimental group has three faculty members, four postdocs, and four PhD/master students.

- Experience with data analysis on Nuclear/High-Energy Physics or closely related areas.
- Ability to carry out research projects independently and cooperate with other group members.
What you will do:
- Contribute to the physics analysis of STAR or ALICE based on interests.
- Contribute to the future experiment project and/or physics development of the group.
- Publish papers/reports in refereed journals, and make verbal presentations of work.
What we offer:
- The annual pre-tax salary for postdoc is starting at ~320k CNY depending on experiences. The term of initial appointment is two year with the possibility of reappointment based on performance and funding.
- The position will be based at UCAS Yanqihu Campus in Huairou District, Beijing, and will involve potential international travel for conferences and visits to collaborating institutions.
- Enjoy benefits such as social insurances and housing provident fund, annual physical examinations, as well as assistance with enrolling postdoctoral children in the UCAS Affiliated Primary School.
- For outstanding researchers (usually high impact journal publications are required), there are opportunities to apply for the Chinese Academy of Sciences "Special Research Assistant Project" and/or other national/postdoctoral fellowship programs, which offers a significant higher salary level.
How to apply:
The interested candidates should send the following materials to Dr. Yuanjing Ji (jiyuanjing@ucas.ac.cn):
- A curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and conference presentations.
- Research statement (please specify your own concrete contributions).
- At least two letters of recommendation to be sent by the reference writers directly. Please let us known the name and email of your recommenders.
An interview will be organised upon receipt of application materials. Recommendation letters can be submitted within one month after the initial application. The position will remain open until filled. For full consideration, please submit the CV, research statement and names of recommenders before May 15, 2026. The start date is negotiable, with early start encouraged. In case of any questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Ji (jiyuanjing@ucas.ac.cn).
