ALICE Run Manager (10 - 23 July 2023): Ernesto Calvo Villar

Ernesto is a Ph.D. student from Lima working on the measurement of diffractive cross sections using the AD system at the ALICE experiment. He performed service tasks on the design and production of the AD detector by studying the performances of the detector using Monte Carlo simulations. In Run 2, he was involved in the operation at Point 2 by taking ECS and AD shifts. Ernesto is our second Run Manager coming from the RM package. Without previous experience in RUN 3 shifts, he fulfilled all the training this year and had taken all the central shift positions (QC, DCS, and ECS Shift Leader) over the past four months. Thanks to his strong commitment to operation this year, he is fully qualified to take over the Run Manager role.

During his mandate, Ernesto will ensure production for physics at 500 kHz with the full machine (2400b), as well as finalisation of the IR scan at 1MHz and 1.5 MHz. He will coordinate underground access on Thursday morning.
