The Subdepartment of Particle Physics, University of Oxford is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral research assistant to work on the MicroBooNE and LBNE experiments for a 3 year fixed-term full-time appointment.

The MicroBooNE experiment, a 170t Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LArTPC) at Fermilab, is designed to address the MiniBooNE low-energy neutrino excess and to develop the LArTPC technology. The Oxford Group will be actively involved in the detector commissioning and will contribute to several physics analyses such as neutrino oscillation. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in particle physics or related field. He/she will be expected to participate in the detector commissioning at Fermilab as well as lead one of the physics analyses.

The candidate will also be involved in the LBNE experiment, a very large scale LArTPC project to study neutrino oscillations, proton decay and supernova neutrinos with unprecedented sensitivity. The candidate will contribute to the Oxford R&D effort and will work on event reconstruction software development and simulations for LBNE.

The post will be located in the Physics Department, Oxford University. Teaching duties of up to 3 hours per week during University term may be required.
