Grade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 p.a.
The Sub-department of Particle Physics, University of Oxford is seeking two highly qualified postdoctoral research assistants to work on the ATLAS experiment.

ATLAS will start its second major phase of data taking at the end of 2014. The experiment is designed to maximise the chances of discovery of new physics including electroweak symmetry breaking, exotic new physics and supersymmetry. The Oxford Group has wide experience in a large variety of analyses, and has responsibility for the SCT (silicon strip tracker) detector control system (DCS), and the hardware alignment system (FSI). Both postholders will be expected to take a leading role in a physics analysis and will be based at CERN, where up to 50% of their time will be used to play a major role in the operation, development and maintenance of the SCT DCS and FSI systems.

The full time posts are supported by STFC. The contracts will be fixed-term and available from 30 April 2014. They will initially be for 2 or 3 years depending on qualifications. The successful candidates will hold a PhD in Particle Physics. The posts will be based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Enquiries about these posts may be made to t.weidberg@physics.ox.ac.uk or a.barr@physics.ox.ac.uk.

Applications for these vacancies are to be made online and must be received by 12.00 noon on 22 April 2014. Please read the "Person Specification and Job Description" before preparing your application. You will be required to upload a CV, a description of research experience and interests and the names and addresses of three referees as part of your online application.
