Grade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 p.a.
The Sub-department of Particle Physics, University of Oxford is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral research assistant to work on the ATLAS experiment.

ATLAS is one of two general purpose detectors and will start its second major phase of data taking towards the end of 2014. The experiment is designed to maximise the chances of elucidating current understanding of particle physics and of discovery of new physics including electroweak symmetry breaking, exotic new physics and supersymmetry. The Oxford Group has wide experience in a large variety of physics analyses and is investing in core JET/ETmiss software. The postholder will be expected to take a leading role in a physics analysis and will be based at CERN. Up to 50% of the postholder’s time will be used to play a major role in the organisation, development and deployment of the JET/ETmiss software.

The post is supported by STFC and is full-time. The contract will be fixed-term and available from 30 April 2014. It will initially be for 2 or 3 years depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Particle Physics. The post will be based in Geneva, Switzerland.
