The John Adams Institute (JAI) for Accelerator Science at the University of Oxford is seeking a postdoctoral research assistant to work on (a) the design of a Smith-Purcell (SP) profile monitor for fs-long electron/positron bunches, (b) advanced EM concepts for particle acceleration. Responsibilities will include study of the Smith-Purcell emission and profile reconstruction techniques. The researcher will also be involved in the experimental study of novel accelerating cavities and support the development of our RF laboratory. The researcher will travel to CERN (Switzerland) and DESY (Germany) to participate in research projects. The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Accelerator Science or a closely related field. The following skills and experience are required: proven record of high quality research in Accelerator Science and/or advanced EM and RF techniques; proven knowledge of programing languages and knowledge of MatLab and/or LabView.

The appointment is full-time, fixed-term for 18 months. The position will be based in Oxford and may involve teaching duties of up to three hours per week during University term.
