The John Adams Institute (JAI) for Accelerator Science at the University of Oxford is seeking a postdoctoral research assistant to work on: (a) the design of a Smith-Purcell (SP) profile monitor for fs-long electron/positron bunches, (b) advanced EM concepts for particle acceleration. Responsibilities will include study of the Smith-Purcell emission and profile reconstruction techniques. The researcher will also be involved in the development of our RF laboratory. The researcher will travel to CERN (Switzerland) and DESY (Germany) to participate in research projects. The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Accelerator Science or related fields. The following skills and experience are required: proven record of high quality research; proven knowledge of MatLab and programing languages.
The appointment is a full-time, fixed-term (18 months) contract. The position will be based in Oxford and may involve teaching duties of up to 3 hours per week during the University term.
