The LHCb group at the I. Physics Institute of RWTH Aachen led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Schael is opening a post-doc position in the field of experimental particle physics, focused on R&D for the LHCb Upgrade II detector and in the analysis of the data collected by the LHCb experiment at CERN.

Applicants should have their PhD in high-energy experimental physics or a closely related field at the time of the starting date. The ideal candidate would have experience in developing and commissioning detector hardware, building production-quality, sustainable software written in C++ and Python and analyzing high energy physics data. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work in an international research environment, including good English proficiency.

Applications should include - in addition to the relevant certificates - a description of previous research experience (PhD work and postdoctoral work, where appropriate), an academic curriculum vitae including the most relevant publications, analysis notes, talks given at international conferences and workshops, and the names of two referees to provide recommendation letters.

The postdoctoral researcher is expected to play a leading role in the construction of the new SciFi detector for the LHCb Upgrade II and to make significant contributions to our special focus in LHCb data analysis, the search for anti-helium nuclei from B-Baryon decays.

Application deadline is set to 10 March 2023.
