Tenure Track Position in DUNE at LAPP (Annecy)

A tenure track position is proposed within the DUNE team of Laboratoire d’Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP, Annecy - IN2P3 - CNRS / Université Savoie Mont-Blanc).

In this type of position (Chaire Professeur Junior CNRS), after a pre-tenure period of 4 years, the candidate is eligible for tenure at the CNRS as a CNRS Senior Researcher (Directeur de Recherche) within the DUNE group at LAPP. During this period, the successful candidate will benefit from substantial support from CNRS/IN2P3 and USMB who will provide funding for technical tasks plus, specifically, a three-year PhD thesis and a junior postdoc that the recruited person will supervise. This installation package is intended to create a strong dynamics in our new member's contribution to the project within the DUNE team of LAPP Annecy.

The successful candidate is expected to be instrumental in the DUNE Vertical Drift Liquid Argon TPC prototype effort currently ongoing at CERN. He/she will work in liaison with a team of engineers and physicists and will have major contributions both in the operation and the design of the apparatus, and in particular of the Charge Readout Planes (CRP). This activity will continue naturally with responsibilities in the supervision of the production of the CRP planes for the DUNE Vertical Drift Far detector, as well as in the installation and the operation of these components. The successful candidate will also work on a physics analysis, either by developing his/her own physics topic or by joining existing physics activities in the LAPP DUNE team. Finally, he/she will also get involved in the local engineering school (Polytech Annecy), mostly in technically-oriented courses (e.g. instrumentation, electronics, data science). Knowledge of French and teaching experience will be appreciated but are not mandatory.

 The candidate is expected to have experience in:

- physics analysis and detector R&D;

- supervising research, PhD students;

- seniority: more than 5 years after PhD

Application deadline: April 14th 2023
