The Nuclear and High Energy Physics Department at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ – Brazil) announces the public call for one Tenured Faculty position in the field of Experimental High Energy Physics. Additional positions may be filled by candidates approved in the same call.

Faculty members in the Nuclear and High Energy Physics Department are actively engaged in the CMS Collaboration and recently UERJ has joined the ATLAS Collaboration (ATLAS/Brazil cluster) at the CERN LHC. The CMS research group operates a Tier-2 GRID cluster. The CMS group has expertise and significant responsibilities in the Resistive Plate Chambers and Precision Proton Spectrometer detector systems, the Physics Performance and Datasets group of the experiment, and has strong participation in a number of physics analyses. The ATLAS group is involved with energy reconstruction in the Tile calorimeter, and the use of neural networks for electron and photon identification. The research groups collaborate nationally in the Brazilian High Energy Physics Network (RENAFAE).
