- LHC and P2 News:
- LHC commissioning:
- The LHC commissioning is well on track, with a beam availability over the past week of the order of 90%. First collisions (not in stable beams) have been established on 19 March, both at 6.8 TeV and at the injection energy.
- Stable beams at 450 GeV have been provided on 21 March, for the first time in 2024.
- More stable collisions at the injection energy are expected in the next days, while the machine continues the commissioning toward stable beams at 6.8 TeV, that are scheduled for the second week of April.
- P2 operations:
- The global commissioning of the experiment is reaching its final stage.
- On 21 March, we successfully collected the first collisions at 450 GeV of energy, marking the start of the 2024 run! All detectors participated In the data taking, which proceeded smoothly and efficiently.
- During the LHC commissioning activities the experiment remains nearly off, and the commissioning and validation of the central systems continues by replaying MonteCarlo-generated data as well as real data from 2023. Upgrades of the central systems and of the online processing software are performed on a weekly basis, to finalise the ongoing consolidation work.
- LHC commissioning:
