- LHC and P2 news:
- LHC:
After the completion of the second machine development block, the LHC entered the first technical stop (TS1) on 10 June. During this period, which will last until Friday 14 June or Saturday 15 June, all machine activities are stopped, and the tunnel and experimental caverns are accessible for maintenance.
After the completion of TS1, the machine will resume beam operations, starting with a short intensity ramp-up before going back to proton-proton physics production at the beginning of next week. - P2 operations:
During the technical stop, ALICE has performed a number of planned maintenance works, taking advantage of the access to the experimental cavern. The physics data taking is expected to resume during the coming weekend, with the ALICE magnets set to positive polarity. The first fills during the LHC intensity ramp-up will be devoted to collecting data at various interaction rates, starting from 10 kHz and up to 4 MHz. Those data will be used to calibrate the TPC in the positive magnetic field configuration. Proton-proton physics production will resume as soon as the LHC will reach full intensity.
