Position Description
The Heavy-Ion Group at the MIT Laboratory of Nuclear Science invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. Our group has leading roles in the sensor design and the R&D for the test and characterization of novel wafer-sized 65nm stitched Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) for the Silicon Vertex Tracker of the ePIC experiment for the Electron-Ion Collider. The successful candidate will play a major role in the design of the readout electronics, the control software, and the SVT ePIC DAQ chain. The candidate will also be strongly involved in the characterization phase, which requires the use of a wafer probe for prompt feedback on the sensor performance. The activity will be carried out at CERN in close collaboration with the ITS3 design and testing team. A strong background in instrumentation, electronics, and software development is required. Candidates with a strong background in hardware and software R&D for silicon detectors are strongly encouraged to apply.Review and screenings of applications will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled. Interested candidates should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a publication list, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted online. The appointment will initially be for one year and may be further renewed upon satisfactory performance and available funding. All material should be sent electronically via Academic Jobs Online (AJO).
Job Requirements: Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in Physics or Engineering.
