The University of Tsukuba has begun recruiting female faculty members with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusion and strengthening the university's research capabilities.

We will set aside 20 positions university-wide, with 14 more positions open to the public as associate professors or assistant professors, covering all research fields at the university.

In addition, we plan to limit recruitment for the remaining six positions to specific job types and fields, and will begin public recruitment as soon as preparations are complete.

At the University of Tsukuba, we believe that a diverse workforce is essential for the further development of research and education. However, the current ratio of female faculty members is still insufficient.

Therefore, as a positive action based on Article 8 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Law, we have decided to hire only women for the purpose of increasing the ratio of female faculty members. This is an important policy of the university, aiming to build a system that will lead innovative research and education.

If research activities have been temporarily suspended or delayed for reasons such as childbirth, childcare, elderly care, or illness, this will be taken into consideration during the selection process.

  • Special leave system, such as leave to care for family members
  • If relocation is required upon employment, travel expenses will be provided.

The University of Tsukuba is creating an environment where life events and career development can be compatible, and is promoting the creation of a university where diverse human resources can thrive. Why not utilize the unique perspectives and strengths of women in the education and research of the next generation?
