NEWS FROM POINT 2

  • Open shift block:
     
    • There are currently 4 non-expert full blocks (3 SL / 4 ECS) in September and 5 partial expert (November/October) blocks are available.
       
    • In case of questions, please contact RC (alice-rc@cern.ch)
  • LHC and ALICE:
     
    • During the last week, LHC provided pp collisions at full machine. The average time in Stable Beams was around 50%, with a longer recovery required due to issues with cryogenics.
       
    • The vacuum situation in the machine around P2 is still being monitored closely, since regular excursions are observed. The background originating from the recombination chamber on the C-side, which had been observed since the beginning of the year, continued its downward trend due to further conditioning.
       
    • ALCE data taking went very smoothly. For most fills, a single run was carried out, resulting in data-taking efficiency exceeding 90%. In total, 19.8/pb of pp data were recorded.
       
    • On Friday morning, an access is planned.
