NEWS FROM POINT 2
- Open shift block: please contact RC (alice-rc@cern.ch)
- LHC and ALICE:
- During the last week, LHC provided pp collisions at complete machine. The operation was very smooth, with around ~80% time in stable beam until the start of the MD on Monday morning.
- MD will last till Friday morning. Afterwards, an access is scheduled for dedicated X-ray scans of RF modules in different locations, in view of a possible increase in bunch intensity.
- ALCE data taking went quite smoothly. A total luminosity of 27.7/pb of pp data was recorded.
During the MD, a software update was deployed, followed by several tests by a software expert in standalone and global replay runs.

Sep 2025 morning shift at Point-2: Central shifters (Jeremy, Jonathan, Chunzheng, Jesper, Zhengqing) share a light moment with Silvia (Deputy Run Coordinator) and Adrian (Run Manager) while waiting for the LHC beam operations to resume!
- During the last week, LHC provided pp collisions at complete machine. The operation was very smooth, with around ~80% time in stable beam until the start of the MD on Monday morning.
- Run Manager started this week: Adrian Fereydon Nassirpour
Adrian obtained his Ph.D. from Lund University in the winter of 2022 and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Sejong University in Korea. He began his career in ALICE in 2016 during his master's program, which focused on measuring the production of-mesons with respect to the event-shape observable “transverse spherocity”. This work continued into his Ph.D. studies, expanding to include multiple event-shape observables across a broad spectrum of light-flavour hadrons, resulting in several analyses and publications.
Since as early as 2017, Adrian has actively participated in both Run 2 and Run 3 data-taking periods, covering both pp and Pb–Pb collisions. He has served in several central shift roles, including DQM (under the old Run 2 framework), ECS, and Shift Leader. For his service task, he contributed to the decommissioning and recommissioning of the TPC during LS2.
Adrian’s current work at Sejong University focuses on two main physics analyses topics: a joint LF–JE analysis on resonance production inside jets, and a separate analysis on prompt photon reconstruction using a novel statistical approach. Additionally, since 2023, he has served as coordinator of the LF–Resonance PAG, overseeing and guiding several Run 2 and Run 3 analyses. Recently, a significant focus has been on the continued development of the light-ion resonance analyses.
During his mandate, he will organize the operation during the Machine Development and the continuation of the pp production.
