- LHC and ALICE:
- Last Friday, the MD finished after 4 days. During the last night, a vacuum leak appeared in a bellow in a secondary collimator in Pt7. During an access, the leak could be sealed, and the collimator needed to be lowered to the retracted position. During the weekend, the operation with the retracted collimator was confirmed in a campaign of loss maps and a ramp-up. On Tuesday, the machine was back to physics production at full capacity.
- During the access on Friday, several RF modules were inspected by a dedicated X-ray scan. For the modules with the loose spring close to P2 (in 6L2), no degradation was observed. During the high-intensity injection, MD, there was a pressure spike on the module, which recovered quickly.
- Also, the elliptic modules close to Pt5 do look fine. Following the results, an increase in bunch intensity to 1.7E11 is likely to be planned for the beginning of October.
- The data taking for ALICE continues as smoothly as before the MD period. During the week, two accesses were required: one to replace a power cable of ITS and another to fix a problem with the cooling plant of HMP.
- During the 1200b, fill in the ramp-up, a high-rate test for TPC was carried out.
A total luminosity of 28.9/pb of pp data was recorded.
In the upcoming week, the start of the low-field data taking is planned to start on Monday.
