NEWS FROM POINT 2
- pen shift block: please contact RC (alice-rc@cern.ch):
- SL Expert: 29.11 - 4.12
- QC Expert: 5.12 - 7.12
- ECS Expert: 7.12 (afternoon)
- LHC and ALICE:
- Last Tuesday (4 Nov) evening, pp data taking for 2025 was completed.
Despite a long series of issues that prevented beam operation in the LHC from Thursday noon until Sunday evening (water leak issues with the 18 kV breaker in Points 1 and 8, and quadrupole trips) - the luminosity targets were reached in all IPs.
- The final ALICE recorded luminosity is 49.9/pb (with 53.5/pb delivered).
- Machine development period: from Tuesday night to Saturday morning.
- Afterwards, the first half of Pb-Pb commissioning will start, including the background measurement campaign, which is expected to happen on Sunday at midday. During this, the background contribution at P2 with the default optics for 2025, with a change in the LHCb beta*, will be checked.
- On Monday morning, the Technical Stop will start, followed by the second half of the Pb-Pb commissioning.
- The first Pb-Pb stable beams are expected on Friday evening, 14 Nov.
- Last Tuesday (4 Nov) evening, pp data taking for 2025 was completed.
- Current Run Manager (27 Oct - 6 Nov): Nicolo Valle
