- Call for plenary speaker nominations (3 talks):
Please provide your nominations to alice-cc-chairs@cern.ch by 5 December. Self-nominations are welcome. Please include a brief motivation in support of your suggestions.
- SQM2026 (22-27 March, Los Angeles, CA)
- Light flavours measurements in ALICE
- Heavy flavour measurements in ALICE
- ICHEP2026 (30 July - 5 August, Natal, Brazil)
- Overview of Heavy Ion measurements (multi-experimental talk)
Given the broad scope of the audience for this conference, it is important to select a speaker who can effectively communicate highlights to particle physicists from various subfields, and has a large expertise covering the whole Heavy ion field for all experiments. The nature of this talk differs from those tailored to more specialized audiences, such as those at SQM.

NEWS FROM POINT 2
- Open shift block: please contact RC (alice-rc@cern.ch):
- QC Expert: 5.12 - 7.12
- QC Expert: 5.12 - 7.12
- LHC and ALICE:
- Last Saturday, the Pb-Pb commissioning started and advanced quite well during the weekend.
- On Sunday, background tests with Pb-Pb beams were carried out. The test revealed a similar background level at P2 as in 2024. Also, with a low solenoid field, the background situation was stable.
- On Monday morning, a technical stop started and lasted till late Wednesday afternoon. During those days, several detector maintenance tasks in preparation for the Pb-Pb period were carried out.
- On Wednesday afternoon, Pb-Pb commissioning continued. First stable beams are expected on Friday. During the weekend, the vdM scans at all IPs are scheduled.
- Last Saturday, the Pb-Pb commissioning started and advanced quite well during the weekend.
- Current Run Manager (10-23): Luca Quaglia:
Luca is a post-doc in the Torino ALICE group and is currently also employed as an academic guest at ETH Zurich. He is a specialist in the MID gas system and a member of PWG-DQ. He defended his thesis in April 2023 on the development of eco-friendly gas mixtures for Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC), and he is currently the ALICE representative for the EcoGas@GIF++ collaboration and a member of the DRD1 collaboration. Moreover, he is in charge of a service-work task to extract the MID efficiencies and store the results in the CCDB, to improve the accuracy of the Monte Carlo simulations.Luca has also been one of the ALICE Junior Representatives between March 2022 and July 2024, and therefore was a member of the Collaboration Board. As far as operations at Point 2 are concerned, Luca is a very experienced Shift Leader and Run Manager, having already covered many shifts and RM blocks in Run 3.
During his mandate this year, he will follow the start of this year’s Pb-Pb data taking, with the intensity ramp-up.
