PAPERS IN THE COLLABORATION REVIEW
Papers currently open for comments can be inspected using the link: Paper in Collaboration Review (Open for Comments).
NEWS FROM POINT 2
- LHC IP8 TDI vacuum leak:
- The initial leak of IP8 TDIs (Module B bottom Jaw) was sucesfully mitigated by opening the jaw in parking position and varnishing the leak.
- On Monday, a second leak developped on the IP8 TDIs (Module A bottom Jaw). The same strategy as for the first leak was applied yesterday during an access: the module A bottom jaw is blocked in parking position (opened) and the leak was sucessfully varnished.
- The IP8 TDIs is now in a configuration with 2 jaws (module A and B bottom) opened and blocked in parking position.
- Simulations are ongoing to estimate limitations for pp ref run and Heavy Ion run.
- LHC Heavy Ion commissioning:
- Heavy Ion Slip-stacked beam with 12b available from SPS. Ions injected in the LHC, ramp up to FLAT TOP.
- Heavy Ion Slip-stacked beam with 12b available from SPS. Ions injected in the LHC, ramp up to FLAT TOP.
- ALICE data taking:
- Data taking 900 GeV, devoted to re-commissioning after 6 weeks of pause, ~ 20-25 M INEL events collected
- VdM scan done LHC23zv 2X-Y scan, 2 LSC, X-Y with offset. (LSC redone suspecting orbit drift)
- Data taking with ALL detectors, including ZDC, during LHCb scan, LHC23zv, ~ 0.12 Billion event collected with mu= 0.005 and mu = 0.03.
- ALICE Run Manager (4 - 17 Sep 2023): Bharati Naik:
Bharati Naik is a postdoctoral fellw from Johannesburg. She is a specialist in D-meson and azimuthal correlations in pp collisions at 13 TeV, a subject she extensively studied in her Ph.D. thesis. Later she was in charge of the high-level QA for analysis of D-meson hadron correlations and HF jets in data and MC samples. Since Run 2 she has been committed to operations, ensuring several central shifts for different roles: DCS, ECS, and SL, and being a DCS expert shifter for Heavy Ions. On the detector side, she is also doing MID On-calls.
During her mandate, Bharati will coordinate critical data taking, starting with the VdM scan on Tuesday, 5 September. During the High beta run, she will coordinate the last software upgrade in preparation for Heavy Ion and full revalidation of all acquisition components. Starting the 11 September, Bharati will be in charge of the pp reference run at the center of mass energy of 5.36 TeV which marks the start of our Heavy Ion program.
