NEWS FROM POINT 2
- LHC and ALICE
- LHC is continuing with the low-mu run. ALICE is taking data at 500 kHz with a very good efficiency.
- On Wednesday, an access took place, and activities were granted in the shadow to CTP, EMCAL, ITS, TPC and to the team working on the MID prototype for ALICE 3.
- In the shadow of the access, ALICE magnet polarities were swapped to the negative/negative configuration, and data taking at 500 kHz has then been resumed.
- Open shift blocks:
If you have any question about the training and, overall, on how to get ready to cover these earlier shifts do not hesitate to contact us (alice-rc@cern.ch). Dedicated trainings can be arranged.
- Urgent: the night QC shift on 10 April (N)
- A full (non-expert) QC block starting on 9 May (MM-AA-NN)
- Expert ECS and QC blocks from 19 May
- Urgent: the night QC shift on 10 April (N)
- Run Manager (6-19 Apr 2026): Magnus Thoegersen
On Easter, `Alice' the canary visited us at P2, and spent a few days here enjoying the wonderful data taking. Eventually it was adopted by a new family, but promised that it will visit us in July - it mentioned that it would like to enjoy a tour in the ALICE cavern too. |
