Electronics Engineer in Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics

Submitted by alicesec on

Job description:

The T.W. Bonner Laboratory invites applications for electronics engineers to join our efforts on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The Rice group (Acosta, Ecklund, Geurts, Li, Padley) is playing key roles in designing and constructing electronic systems of several upgrade projects of the CMS experiment for the high-luminosity LHC, including the forward pixel tracker, endcap timing layer (ETL), and muon trigger system.

FIAS is a member of the PUNCH4NFDI consortium (Particles, Universe, NuClei and Hadrons for the National Research Data Infrastructure). One overarching goal is to make new experimental data from these research areas available - within the principles of "FAIR" data management. Within the framework of this consortium, we are active in the area of "data irreversibility" focusing on efficient data reduction and processing under real-time conditions.
