ONGOING AND UPCOMING EVENTS
Today marks the first anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Our thoughts go out to the citizens of Ukraine who still suffer daily as a result of the unlawful invasion. We are committed to continue working with our colleagues from Ukraine and to providing our support wherever possible.
- ALICE Week at CERN: 27 February to 5 March 2023

- During the ALICE week, visits to CERN Synchrocyclotron (SC) are organised for ALICE members on Wednesday 1 March and Thursday 2 March. If interested, please register.

- The second Healthy Minds for Masterminds Workshop (Tuesday 28 February at 16 hrs): As part of the ALICE Wellbeing Campaign, we are proud to announce the second "Healthy Minds for Master Minds" workshop on mental health, which will take place on Tuesday, 28 February from 16:00 - 18:00 hrs at the CERN Council Chamber as well as online.
The event is open for the whole collaboration and complements that of the first workshop (held in June last year). If interested, please register in the link here.
- LHCC 153 Week will take place from 6 to 9 March 2023 with the Open Session on Wednesday 8 Mar 2023 at 9 AM. ALICE Status Report will be presented by Silvia Pisano.
- ALICE Upgrade Week at CERN: 8 to 12 May 2023.
- This will be followed by FoCal Collaboration Meeting: 12 to 15 May 2023.
- ALICE Physics Week at Bucharest, Romania: 12 to 16 June 2023.
NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Input for new EB chair candidates: Since Javier Castillo’s mandate as co-chair of the Editorial Board (EB) expires at the end of July this year, you are invited to send nominations for a new co-chair to join Francesco Prino in this function. Please let Marco know by private e-mail (by Friday 3 March) if you would like to suggest someone for this role, or if you would interested to become active in this role yourself. Further details are in our Collaboration website.
- Fundraising for Türkiye and Syria: message from CERN DG and President of the CERN Staff Association: We were all shocked and saddened to learn of the earthquakes that shook Türkiye and Syria last week, leading to widespread loss of life and material damage in a region were conditions were already harsh. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this disaster.
To assist the victims, we are starting a collection today and ask you, once more, to show your generosity. The funds raised will be used to support relief efforts in the affected areas and will be sent to Médecins Sans Frontières whose teams operate in both Türkiye and Syria.

- Access restrictions for the LHC experimental caverns in March:
- Cavern closed from Thursday 9 March at 16:00 for DSO tests on Friday 10th March, reopen after completion of DSO test
- Cavern closed Wednesday 22 March at 10:00 for Operation restart, afterwards only short accesses possible agreed by LHC.
- ALICE Magnet is OFF until 31 March
