- LHC and ALICE:
- After the end of the technical stop last Friday, the Oxygen special run period started.
On Sunday morning, the first Oxygen was injected into the LHC, and proton-Oxygen collisions were established Sunday afternoon. The first stable beams were declared on Tuesday morning.
Machine operation went very smoothly, and pO program could be finished already on Thursday morning.
- After access on Thursday morning for the removal of LHCf, commissioning for OO collisions started, and the first Stable Beams are expected on Friday. The production for OO will continue during the weekend.
- Beginning of next week, the switch to Ne will be carried out, and half a day of data taking is planned.
- ALICE took data smoothly during Stable Beams recording 7.4/nb of pO, exceeding the goal of 5/nb.
During the commissioning for pO a background test could be carried out, which showed no significant background contribution. A similar test was also carried out during the OO commissioning, with a similar result.
