Barbara Erazmus appointed Officer of the Legion of Honour: (link)
- ALICE warmly congratulates Barbara Erazmus on her appointment to the rank of Officer of the French Legion of Honour, France's highest national distinction for outstanding service to the nation.
Barbara Erazmus, Research Director at CNRS and Deputy Chair of NuPECC, and former Deputy Spokesperson of ALICE, received the insignia during a ceremony held on 26 May in Préfecture de Nantes. The distinction was bestowed by Michel Spiro, former President of the CERN Council, outgoing President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), and President of the Curie and Joliot-Curie Association, in the presence of Christelle Roy, Director of CNRS Nuclear and Particle Physics, the National Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (IN2P3), and Pol-Bernard Gossiaux, Director of the Subatech laboratory.
The ceremony was attended by former ALICE Spokespersons Luciano Musa and Federico Antinori, colleagues from SUBATECH, and members of the wider scientific community.
This promotion from Chevalier (Knight) to Officer recognises Barbara’s outstanding contributions to science, her leadership within the nuclear-physics community, and her long-standing commitment to international scientific collaboration.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Barbara on this well-deserved honour.

NEWS FROM POINT 2
- LHC and ALICE
- LHC is continuing with Pb-Pb physics production. Last Friday, the intensity ramp up was completed, and the first fill at full machine confirmed that the knob settings identified during the background studies are properly mitigating the background and suitable for ALICE data taking with negative/negative magnet polarities.
Once entered into the full machine regime, ALICE started collecting PbPb data with very high efficiency. Last night, an issue in the cooling system of the ITS was experienced, but it was quickly fixed through an access, and ALICE is now back to data taking.

- Open shift blocks:
If you have any question about the training and, overall, on how to get ready to cover these earlier shifts do not hesitate to contact us (alice-rc@cern.ch). Dedicated trainings can be arranged.
- a partial DCS expert block starting on June 8th (NN)
We need to urgently fill this shift.

- Run Manager (1-14 June 2026): Michal BROZ:
Michal Broz is a Physicist from CTU, Prague, and a specialist in ultraperipheral collisions and diffraction. He was convener of the UD PAG for Ultra peripheral collisions from 2016 to 2021, and convener of the PWG-UD from 2019 to 2021. During this period he was a member of the Physics board. In 2020 and 2021, during the critical phase of integration of detectors and final commissioning in preparation for RUN 3, he was FDD System Run Coordinator. Michal has a long-standing implication in operation at P2 as he holds the record of taking the maximum number of Shift Leader shifts in ALICE since SAMS is in place to collect the statistics. Since the beginning of Run 2, he has ensured at least a Run Manager mandate every year, with many of them occuring during the critical Heavy Ion period.
During his term, Michal will take care of consolidating the Pb-Pb physics production, the last of Run 3.
